![]() Rebel Efi Psystar El Capitan Mac OS X![]() I would love to buy a MacPro, but I simply don't have £1900 to throw at a new PC. I don't want an iMac because I already have perfectly good monitors in my case I prefer 4:3 monitors, and it would be a pain to try to find a second display that would match the iMac's resolution (only to have to replace it again when I buy a new iMac in 3 years time). There are lots of people like me, who fall into this position between the MacMini and the MacPro, and Apple refuse to cater to us because some kind of mid-range tower would cannibalise their MacPro sales. I'd like a quad-core processor, but I don't need expensive Xeons - I'd probably be happy with a MacMini if it had dual video outs. I can get this with a £300 PC, and I think it's a reasonable expectation these days. I love OS X - it has its failings, but overall it's the best o/s I've ever used, and for a variety of reasons I'm really reluctant to return to Windows. However, I require dual monitors for my work environment. I'm sure there are some people who run Hackintoshes because they're cheapskates, and because it's £200 than a MacMini or an iMac, but honestly, if Apple released an £800 MacMini with dual-DVI I would be first in the queue to buy it.As things stand, however, I can only thank the hackers who enable OS X to run on beige PCs. I don't really want to, because I worry about compatibility and updates and what happens if my network card starts causing kernel panics, but I simply cannot magic £1900 out my ass for a MacPro.
